  3. Introducing Building Community

Over the past year, Building Community have been documenting the progress of nine developments trusts and community groups and their councils throughout their attempt to regenerate unwanted or disused land and buildings, and receive ownership by transferring its assets from the local authority. The stories of these nine projects are told via a series of short films made by Building Community and the participants themselves.

These short video clips featured on our website allow us to experience the achievements as well as the hurdles that they meet throughout the year, as well as allowing similar trusts and community associations around the UK to learn from their experiences and take inspiration from their efforts.

We are now organising the next round of Building Community participants, eight development trusts or community associations and their councils that will allow us to take part in their journey and give us a personal insight into the struggles, lessons and achievements in the challenge of community ownership and empowerment.

In addition to these regular video stories, we will be releasing an animated viral and a documentary to be broadcast on the Community Channel in the summer of this year.

Building Community is an interactive project and we always welcome comments and your involvement on the website, on our Facebook page, via Twitter and of course on Tumblr!
